As for string preference, I’ve used bass to ukelele, wound, steel, even nylon, and they each have their appeals and challenges. If you have the recycled ones, it’s a great chance to experiment with the different tensions, stiffness, and diameters without worrying about waste or cost. Snipping the curled ends will help immensly;) Experiment!

I’ve done a few necklaces but they were recycled strings. Love your pieces !

I’m not sensitive to anything (except the steel poking holes in my fingers!). My web host is Just Host – they are a certified green web host. I did a search when I was looking for a hosting solution since I’m not that impressed with some of the bigger names. Their prices tend to look good until you dig into what you get. Anyway, I’m very pleased with Just Host – their support team is great and responds quickly. I would advise, though, you do a search and find the right one for you – every site, literally, has different needs.

I myself am allergic to nickel so i know about sensitivity and make sure that all ends of especially the really skinny sharp guys are finshed with a waterproof epoxy/crazy glue type of sealant but they do have a mind of their own no matter what, so were i to have Potential buyers lol, i would certainly mention potential sensitivity and offer a hypogenic alternate with the clasps and earwires as i do with my other jewelry.

As for website, i am currently just using my facebook page as i shop around for a permanent web host. Any suggestions anyone in that department?
And i would be honoured to be mentioned on your site. The link if it doesnt show up above is facebook.com/flutteringedge. Thanks so much 🙂

They are steel and I’ve had a few have reactions to them (just like some do to copper). I’m sure you’ve also addressed this but, one of my mistakes early on, was not making absolutely sure I had every piece of the coating covered so the inner steel doesn’t work it’s way out. I have a number of holes in my fingers to attest to how painful it is when that happens.

As I said in a post responding to Copycats with Cameras, I’ve been making music-themed jewelry for about three years now, starting with guitar string bracelets. I’ve been a “guitar groupie” since I was in my teens and my mid-life crisis to myself was guitar lessons. I made friends with the owner and, in a very short time, I had boxes (and not little ones!) of guitar strings – bass, electric, classical, acoustic, even mandolin and banjo!

I haven’t tried necklaces so I admire your “outside-the-box” thinking. I am currently overhauling my web site and, if you have one (I didn’t see one in your post), would love to add a link to your guitar jewelry. I think our jewelry would be a great complement to each other.

I can’t wait to show this to my SIL who also makes jewelry and also has a hubby who plays guitar. Love the metals you used.

I also like the idea of basing a line of jewelry on them.
