Good question! A “wire whacker” is a tool for hardening and flattening finished wire and metal jewelry projects without marring the wire. It’s basically 2 nylon plates that you sandwich your wire project between, and then hammer on the outside of the top plate. 🙂

I have problems with wire not being hard enough and am ready to get a tumbler. I worry about stones breaking though. Is this some kind of hammer you use?
