When I first started making jewelry I didn’t understand the fascination with bullets and shells. But as I’ve grown as an artist, I can appreciate them. Your creations speak of strength and a fierce “don’t back down” attitude. Keep it up Monica!

I am so proud of you! You did it! And, with strong emotional flair! I particularly love the “Get Nailed” earrings! So powerful and daring!

I must admit, I got started making jewelry when my neighbor gave me some very large bullet shells and said, “make something with these” (I had just lost my job and was really bummed). I did make some unique jewelry with them and sold them at gun shows (the booth fees are fairly inexpensive).

I first read Rena’s wise publication on how to setup a good jewelry booth, what to bring, etc., so that really helped. But after while, I realized this wasn’t the real me. I wasn’t a gun person, or into anything punk related. My real passion was ancient, Pre-Columbian, tribal designs. So, the small success I had making bullet jewelry gave me the confidence to switch gears and follow my ultimate passion. Now, I am doing VooDoo designs and just love it! It’s the PASSION in your work that sells it! You go girlfriend! Great job!

I appreciate you telling your story of helping yourself out of your weakness and becoming strong once again. Very empowering! And that you in turn help others….priceless.

Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring jewelry story with us! I love your phrasing, “use your art as a way to move forward” when something’s holding you back – a fantastic piece of advice.

I especially appreciate that you make what you feel strongly about, and that you help causes that are near and dear to your heart. Those are two things that add passion and authenticity to your business – and they fire up your customers too!

I’m thrilled to hear that KOOHI Jewelry got off to such a great start, and that you’ve got exciting plans for growing. Please keep us posted!

And thank you for your kind words. 🙂
