Rolene, thanks for asking! See my free tutorial, How to Give Metal an Oxidized Look (Tutorial). I’d love to see how your “squished penny” jewelry turns out! 🙂

I have a stash of these pennies that I have been wanting to use in jewelry. However, I feel that the images don’t usually stand out enough. Does anyone have any ideas on “antiquing” the pennies? I tried black paint and it all just rubbed off.

I especially love the sea horse and the use of the souvenir penny. We just got back from Florida on Sunday and while there we visited Weeki Wachee Springs and saw the mermaids perform. While there we made two souvenir pennies with mermaids on them. I was brainstorming how to use them to make jewelry. I really like your idea. A great way to turn a souvenir that is likely to be lost or forgotten about into wearable art. Also where did you find your sea horse charm? It’s gorgeous.

Hailing from Pensacola, FL. 🙂 I love your bracelet. You’ve captured the spirit of the Emerald Shores of the Gulf Coast without a doubt. Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.

I especially love that you used the squashed coin – always a fun vacation souvenir! 🙂

That large seahorse looks beautiful in front. Perfect reminder of a warm sea coast.
