Quirky Corky Earrings

My 13 year old daughter brought home 4 wine corks to make some earrings with as part of a costume for a performance she was recently in.
I talked her through some simple wire techniques to make two of the corks wearable and when her sister, my 17 year old, saw them she wanted a pair too.

Since my daughter is 5’10”, long necked and only 17, she can pull these off. Me? Not so much. 🙂 But they were fun to make.
I made this pair for my oldest using some wire scraps and some random glass beads that I save specifically for “fun” or tester designs.

The spirals and loose wire cage helped anchor the corks in place.
The fundamental design is Rena’s Beaded Hoop Earwires with the corks added. I also added top spirals to help stabilize the center wire through the huge hole left by the corkscrew.
There is also a tute for the French Hoop Earwires.
