In reply to Lisa. I do the same thing. I have a small jar of clear push pins that I use, and they also work well to hang matching earrings on the upper part of the display.

My busts have a vertical support at the back, so I use binder clips that can be positioned anywhere along the height. I loop my chains over them to shorten the lengths.

I guess I might be a little old fashioned, but I put the necklaces in their little plastic ZipLock Bags. Then I only pull out the part to hang over and use a small pushpin or pearl headed sewing straight pin to pin the bag on the back….. Keeps everything together. Yes, a hassle to put back if customer wants to try on, but, when purchased, I always put back into the bag and they usually put it in their purse or I put it (bag and all) in a gift box and in a paper bag. Most customers appreciate the extra attention. I don’t pay much for the paper bag. Sometimes I make them myself with a glue stick, pinking shears, and ANY paper.
I think the idea is more money! You can’t ask potential customers to PAY the bigger money without a little class and most of all a SMILE!

I enjoy this site and learn so much from all of you. I have been using the self-adhesive Command hooks sold at most retail stores in the picture section. They can be removed if necessary but seem to work well. I also like the idea of the piece of magnet glued on the back for metal clasps or for magnetic clasps the disk of metal glued in place.

My necklace display is a metal mesh document stand, so magnets are very easy. At some shows, there is a store that sells magnets and I use their pretty ones on the front and remind people that they are for sale too.

I have been using velcro, like Pam, and have gotten very frustrated with it! If you want to crisscross a chain to make the necklace shorter to fit the bust 1 or both sides slip thru the velcro, especially if the necklace has any weight. It often takes 2 of us, 1 to crisscross and hold the chain while the other one applies the top velcro and pushes as hard as possible.
The magnet sounds like a great idea too, but I rarely use magnetic clasps. I’d like to try the hook idea. The chain will hook and hold better than my velcro as long as the hooks are large enough for a link from each side.
Adrien, in which department should I look for them?

What a genius idea. I will have to try putting a little piece of magnet on the backs of mine. I have an old advertising magnet from Vistaprint that I used to stick on the car – I’ll cut it up and use that as it is nice and flat.

I have had the same problem which I solved by attaching hooks to the back of the form. The hooks are attached to material that is pre-glued. They were availble at the hardware store. I like the velcro idea, though, because I think it offers more flexibilty than a hook.

Good ideas! On my own, I like to use velcro tape. I cut about a 2″ strip, self-stick it to the center back of the neckform, and just lift off the top layer and press my necklaces/cords in between. I like to criss-cross the chain or cord at the back of the round neck portion, as it seems to make the necklace hang in a more natural position. Love reading everyone’s ideas here! I’ve learned so much!

I had the same problem and just pushed a push pin into the spine on the back to wrap the extra chain around. Good idea you have though if you use magnetic clasps.
