Potpourri Garden Necklace

A couple of weeks ago I had some little bits of leftover lace and beads from another project that I was going to put away.
I happened to notice my coral mother-of-pearl pendant in my stash, waiting for just the right inspiration. On a whim, (or maybe because it seemed like more fun than cleaning up :)) , I grabbed the pendant and proceeded to arrange all the bits on it, into a whimsical, brightly-coloured summer garden.
I decided to hang my pendant on fresh green seed-beaded memory wire.
As I was doing this necklace, the thought came to me, as it has a few times in the past, that my jewellery pieces often remind me of potpourri, with lots of little lacy, petally bits mixed together.
I’ve really liked that similarity. For some reason, this time I took it further and tried out the name “Pink Pearls and Potpourri” in my mind. I immediately really liked the way that flowed, with all the “p”s, and how it was a much more interesting name. But more than that, as I thought about it, it seemed to be a more accurate descriptive of the way my jewellery is evolving, and the way I want it to go.
I describes the type of mixed media that I love to do. So, after thinking about it for a couple of days, I decided to take the plunge and change, or rather modify, the name of my business to “Pink Pearls and Potpourri”!
A nice change and step forward coming from a big move and a lot of letting go!
