The mat I used is textured silicone with the leather look. I got it online, either Amazon or Ebay. Yes, folks do think it’s leather. This is pliable as the cuff will open wide and not break ( a problem I had when making thicker cuffs). Have fun trying yours!

I would have never guessed you used Polymer Clay unless you mentioned it. Did you mean you used a leather mat to imprint the design? Where do you get them?

Especially the cuff style bracelet. Now to start playing. Thanks

I’ve made several textured barrettes from polymer clay that people asked if were made of leather. I guess I didn’t realize what I had made until another pair of eyes viewed my work. I’m going to try your technique on a pendant and set of earrings, too. Love it!

Thank you for your comments 🙂 . This was my first try at the leather look, I even amazed myself! I think all artisans probably amaze themselves from time to time with their work. Everyone is surprised that it isn’t leather. Again, thank you. I always look forward to your journal emails. Blessings!

If you hadn’t mentioned it was made from polymer clay, I would have assumed it was genuine leather. The colors, textures, and designs look very real. And thanks for sharing the interesting background of how the leather look was created!
