I work part time at a bead and jewelry store, and we use 12 ga aluminum wire for bracelets. It comes in lots of great colors and is much easier to bend than copper. We hammer it with a chasing hammer to work harden it and to give it a great texture.

However, I also use 12ga copper wire which I buy at Home Depot. It all depends on how open the frame design is and how rigid I need it to be. In the past I’ve used 12ga brass but it requires the strength of a black smith to curve or curl it.

I’ve been wanting to do some seaglass cuffs. What is the base (thickest) wire? I use 14 gauge copper, but I’m afraid that it will be too soft for bracelets.

I like your color mixes with them, and your choices of metal colors to coordinate with the pearls. Striking variations of this bracelet style, and a brilliant way to use your pearl stash!
