That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled across your blog.

I’ve been keeping my wire, cords, stringing materials in bags, too, and thought I had an okay system (despite the fact that they kept unraveling) because I keep the bags in a drawer. But! This is so much better and just looks so much neater. I’m definitely buying one of these racks (or two) so I can get my supplies better organized. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea!

Seeing your neatly organized stringing materials in beautiful colors really makes me to want to create some jewelry with this kind of stuff! 🙂

For the ‘loose’ stuff, I think you could make a loop on the end of the cord or ribbon and let them dangle off one of the pegs. if you’ve got lots of scraps, I’d stick with the bag though – some things aren’t meant to be organized. Just like I always have a bowl of bead soup with the leftovers from projects. Periodically, I go through and try to find homes for the beads that I still have in my stash, but the ones that are the last of their kind stay in the soup. That’s the way I think the scraps of ribbons and cords would be too. Whenever I have a new design I want to try though – I always go for the soup to find supplies first.

But what do you think I should do about cord that isn’t on a spool, like ribbon scraps or suede cord?

My own stash is a mess-in-a-bag and could definitely use this nifty rack.

The colours are very pretty – I think that’s why I noticed them. I think the cord being nylon would be the key, as opposed to cotton thread I guess. So much to experiment with! 🙂

The beautiful colored thread is C-Lon Micro Cord and C-Lon Bead Cord. The Micro cord is good for bead stringing and bead crochet. The Bead Cord can be used for the same things, but it also suitable for micro-macrame and kumihimo braiding. C-Lon is nylon cord and does not stretch in my experience. You can see examples of what I’ve used the cord for on my blog. Most recently I’ve used it for kumihimo braiding, but I’ve also done bead crochet projects. In general, I don’t do very much stringing, but I suppose I have enough thread and cord that I can! I can’t resist the colors of C-lon – they’re so fabulous, I always have trouble picking just one or two!

Your system is nice and neat and organized looking. That’s a good idea. I’m familiar with the “wire in the baggies” scenario!

I noticed that you have a lot of spools of thread there. Do you use thread for stringing beads? I’ve experimented with that a bit, and like the idea of it. But I also know (from experience) that cotton thread can stretch, creating too much slack. What do you use your thread for, if you don’t mine me inquiring?
