I love to search for one of a kind and unusual pieces to add to my jewelry designs.

LJuneau: Okracoke Island Pottery Necklace 1

While on vacation this summer on Okracoke Island, North Carolina, I enjoyed a day of shopping at the wonderful gift shops and artist galleries located on this small island.

I met a lovely potter and was admiring her work and happened to ask if she had any smaller pieces that I could use for jewelry.

She said she had made some small pieces but had not offered them for sale yet. She located the pieces and I inquired if she would sell one to me. We agreed on a price and I was excited to take it home and add just a few touches it’s already lovely look.

I added a wire bail and hook and eye closure, a keishi pearl, and stone. I could not part with this memento from a wonderful vacation.
