My First Copper Wire Bangle

Actually, this is my first wire bangle, period. I had a customer request a copper bracelet in hopes to combat pain in his wrist.

The thickest gauge of wire that I had on hand was 14 gauge, so I decided that using three wires would make it “manly” enough. (At this point I should note that I was inspired by some of Zoraida’s copper wire jewelry that was published in a previous newsletter.)

I didn’t have any small gauge natural copper wire, so I used 22 gauge Artistic Wire to wrap the larger wires together. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but I gave some texture to the middle wire with my ball peen hammer. The ends were spiraled outward to give it a little flair.

Since my customer wanted the bracelet for the copper content, I didn’t apply any coating to the wire. In the few days I had it, I noticed the larger wires were starting to dull. However, the wrapping wires, because of their coating, were still nice and bright and created a great contrast.

I enjoyed my first foray into copper bracelets and hope to design more in the future!
