It is tricky to combine red and green tones without suggesting that holiday.

I find using softer variations of these colors, like orange (fire agate, carnelian) work with pale greens like jade. The copper also helps (instead of gold color).

The same thing might be said of orange and black (Halloween) and yellow and black always make me think of bees. Thank you for the compliment!

It struck me when I was looking at your new necklace, that I often have difficulty combining red and green shades without it looking like Christmas, but yours doesn’t.

But it’s the metal I think – silver and gold add to the Christmas look, but the copper takes that away and blends the colours beautifully.

Thank you for being the catalyst for that little insight! Beautiful job and beautiful necklace!

It was difficult to make that first cut. Actually I searched all over the internet for similar beads first but didn’t want to waste time so I (closed my eyes) and cut. I do hope to hear from her when she receives the new necklace.

The bracelet you sacrificed for this project was beautifully wrapped – I’m sure it was hard to make that first cut to take it apart! But I know the mother will treasure the necklace where those jade beads now live.

I’m imagining this mother and daughter wearing their gorgeous new necklaces to lunch to celebrate the mother getting back on her feet again!
