“The woman who manages our pigs asked if I could make her ear jewelry that matches the ear tag on her favorite little boar Mayer. I was stuck as I’ve never done a post-style earring, and I was worried she’d react to the copper. Today I finished her “218” ear tag, with an ear-cuff backing – helped by your ear cuff tutorial. She loved it! Everyone loved it. I put the numbers on by fusing silver wire, but it spread and I had to grind everything down. It looks… “rustic” – but not too different from the way the numbers look when I grind them into the nylon tags. 🙂 If she lets me have it back long enough, I’ll share a photo.”

Have you ever used stainless steel instead of copper? I personally love copper but have to have stainless for anything ear-related, pierced or not.

That’s an excellent question, Nancy! Back in the dark ages before Sharpies, jewelry making must have been a very difficult art. LOL! 🙂

I’ve made the wire ear cuffs so it’s nice to have a another style to work with.

I had a stray thought when I read through the instructions…….. What did jewelry artists use to form small round shapes before the invention of the sharpie? They are a perfect size and shape for so many things and you always have them handy.

They are a nice alternative to clip earrings for we who don’t have pierced ears. They look easy enough to make. I can see all kinds of color choices, textures & dangle choices. I’ll add this project to my long list of jewelry to make????
