They are free. Check with your state. As long as they’re getting their pound of flesh, they’re usually happy to give you a number so they can steal your soul…lol. Seriously, don’t overthink it unless MD insists on this license for handmade artisans. If you have that ID, every bead show should have no problem with you buying wholesale. And really, this is NY…the land of every freakin’ tax and regulation on the planet, and if THEY give us the ID free…well…you get the idea! 😉

I’m in the process of getting the Trader License from my county, and upon providing my business description they did not recommend that I get the Secondhand Precious Metal license.

If you were buying silver coins and silverware and selling same, then you would need this license.

That’s my take. Your best bet would be to call the Maryland licensing board.
