I’ve even sold 9″ anklets as bracelets. It’s best to have a few of all sizes than many at just 1 or 2.

There is NO one size fits all, period. However, the easy way to make them is to go larger because, believe me, it’s a lot easier to restring the bracelet on the spot for a customer and take a bead or two out to make it smaller than it is to try to find that one or two extra matching beads to make it a little bit larger.

I also tell people that they really only need the first bracelet to “fit”, and the rest going up their arm (if they’re stacking them) should be larger anyway, because their arm gets bigger.

If you’re in the Toronto area, I will be teaching how to make stretch bracelets along with all the other tips and tricks and workarounds that I’ve discovered at the Gem Expo this weekend (July 28th-29th-30th) at the Hyatt and again in November.

I suggest u select two different sizes and stick with that. Many designs are unisex so u may have a man with a very large wrist who cannot buy your bracelet. As a reminder to the seller; I instruct my buyer to roll the bracelet over the hand, not to stretch it over thereby extending its life.

I make stretch bracelets a lot. They say the average female’s wrist is 7 1/2″ & men 8″, I disagree. I don’t think you can do the one size fits most because our body size can be so varied. I usually do not even measure, I work off the spool unless I have a specific pattern that must be mirrored, then I will cut.

Choose the measurement and add at least an inch for securing the knots and keep in mind the bracelet will stretch depending on how often the person takes it on/off.

Stretchy bracelets are quick, and fun to make. They are also great for those who are elderly and especially those who have limited hand coordination.

I don’t make stretchy bracelets, so I can’t help you with the cord length. But I have a post here at JMJ that may be helpful:
Bracelet Size Guide – shows the most common wrist sizes for women and men, plus info on making bracelets with chunkier vs. smaller beads, and thoughts on making “one size fits most” bracelets.
Another thought is that instead of creating just one size, you may want to create 2 main sizes – one for smaller wrists and one for larger wrists, to be able to serve more bracelet customers.
