I love the colors of Larimar (a stone that is mined only in the Dominican Republic). It reminds me of the calming colors of the waters in the Caribbean.

I purchased a slab of Larimar then cut and shaped it using regular lapidary wheels. I call all my rocks “God Rocks” because God creates such diversity of colors & patterns.
All I do is grind them to get all the junk off then shape them in order to use them in my jewelry.

Using sterling silver I cast the seahorse and turtle then used regular silversmithing techniques created a bezel and backplate for the stone.
Since I wanted a dimensional bail, I twisted two pieces of square wire then soldered them to a flattened wire, soldered that to the seahorse and the remaining silver creating a bail large enough to accommodate any size of necklace you’d like to hang the piece from.

I had a ball creating it and am very pleased with the final results…wasn’t without its challenges…but I learned from lots of mistakes!
I’m just glad it looks good after all my screw ups…LOL.
