These little darlings are very addictive to work with and I’m having a blast coming up with new ideas for making bails and using them in designs.
I’ve started using sterling beads, wire and components too which really took things up a notch.

They are not in my Etsy shop yet but I have feature a few of them here…

(you’ll see what I did with the blue on from earlier in this post)

I’m working with a few very talented glass artists at this time and in the new year will create a stronger online presence for these pieces.
I just received 13 new one from an artist in the UK that I can’t wait to play with!

until next time…
Have a prosperous and joy filled holiday and New Year!

I can see I’m about to get whole-heartedly addicted to work with the wire, it’s a lovely and very versatile medium. I’ll post some pics in the months to come. Cheers!

Above the bead, create a coil going horizontally, wrap the end around the vertical just below the coil and trim. Now you can leave the coil as it is or fan the coil (separate the tops of the loops but keep the bottoms together). Second (and a little showier) is to create the bail first by making a double (2-loop) coil and wrapping the wire end around the vertical and trimming. Now take the longer end and thread through the top of the bead tothe bottom. Bring the wire up around the back and spiral it loosely and openly around the figure bead to the top, wrap the end around the vertical part just below your first coil and trim.

I’ve just had a quick look at some images for wire woven bails and oh my….. I think they’re a great fit for my projects with the goddesses. Each one of these beads has so much personality and they’re substantial in weight too so they need a good strong bail. I will look around JMJ as well, I’m sure Rena’s got this one covered somewhere 🙂 Have a brilliant day.

Thread the focal onto suitable gauge wire as though using a headpin, a wire woven bail should help to distribute the weight of the focal as well as adding some extra detail to what is a truly fabulous piece of glass.
There are some great tutorials out there for woven bails. I am sure you can find some on here too 🙂
