Lacy Bits Projects

Quite a while ago I got a whole bag of acrylic cuff bracelets at a thrift store. I got the idea recently to cover one of them with bits of leftover lace, and other special little “bits”.

I started by applying some green lace near the center, then had to decide where to go from there. In looking around my stash, I found this vintage flower, part of a piece of broken jewelry in a box a friend gave me. I knew I had to use that, and took the color scheme for the rest of the bracelet from that bright and summery flower.

I dabbed 14-karat gold colored paint on the inside of the bracelet with my finger.
This was a fun project and a good way to use up bits!
My second project was my version of very lightweight bird’s nest earrings. I found a package of two little grapevine bird’s nests in my floral design supplies. They immediately said “Earrings, please!” to me. I ran a bit of the same gold paint along some of the twigs to add some shine.

I decided to line those lucky little birds nests with bits of turquoise lace, and when I found these turquoise glass beads mottled with gold in my stash, I knew they were my perfect little eggs. Antique brass earwires were the perfect accompaniment.
