For info on the percentages shops take when they sell your jewelry, please see my posts,

I hope this helps! 🙂

A friend here in town that sells to a shop must give 50%. Is this the standard?

Yes, sometimes stopping in without an appointment can work, especially if you are wearing a piece of your jewelry. Bottom line, take all outings as opportunities to get the word out about your jewelry.

Gorgeous work. I, too, have real sea glass jewelry – I call it beach glass on occasion because people seem to get the difference. Unfortunately, the beaches in my state (North Carolina) have been about stripped dry of glass so I’ve had to resort to tumbling some. The pieces I do have left were found by my mother between 1960 and 1985 in Nags Head, NC. I wrap them in sterling and, amazing, have been able to match pieces for about six pairs of earrings.
My question: I have some customers balk at the price (I mainly sell at local festivals). My earrings were $35. They are totally unique, cannot be replaced and, a jeweler friend of mine in Nags Head who has amassed a staggering amount of glass over the past 25 years (mostly brown but it’s still real), estimates it to be over 75 years old. Do you have this problem?
