What a creative idea Kari. It’s also really cute! I had to go “awww’ before I could read the post. 🙂 I’m glad you’re finding how to re-use the containers in a way that works for you. It’d probably be a good method for storing multiple in-progress projects too. I’ve started using plastic jar lids to organize beads on my tray since I tend to work on the porch when I have time.

In reply to Jacqui. Hi Jacqui, thank you for your lovely thoughts about Jewelry Making Journal! Regarding earwires, you're right that copper can be a metal allergen for some people. But many people are fine with wearing it. It's always a good idea to ask people if they have any known metal allergies / sensitivies, or any metal preferences for jewelry components that will directly touch their skin or be inserted in ear / body piercings. I don't know about the Australian health / government recommendations for jewelry metals - but you may want to check whether they exist and what they require. In my post, Earring Wire Guidelines, I've included info on various earwire metals and gauges, which hopefully will be helpful to you! :)

Rena, I constantly turn to your journal for inspiration – thank you! I have one question regarding ear wires. Here in Australia I have been under the impression that ear wires should be silver or surgical steel to minimize irritation. But several of your beautiful one piece ones continue the copper through the ear. Do they not cause allergic reactions, or is the copper treated in some way? I would love to be able to make earrings in one “flow” without having to attach silver wire.
