Hi Amanda! In this video I explain the strategy I think is best when you’re deciding on a name for your jewelry business:
Jewelry Business Names.

I hop this helps, and wishing you all the best in your jewelry business! 🙂

I have gone through several stages of refining my jewelry design to make it cohesive and unique. Through this, I have had names in mind, but later didn’t like them as well because they didn’t feel as congruent with my overall brand. I now am getting ready to launch soon and am devoting most of my time to this process. I agree that we know our jewelry designs and what they represent best and can do a great job with the help of family and friends.

I have to change the name of my business because I found that someone else named their jewelry business way too closely to mine amd they were registered before I had a chance. So I am frustrated but I believe it will be much better this time around. I will have that glass of wine!

I’ve had two different official business names (registered at state level), and one official for marketing purposes. I’ve found that the “personal name” option can be hit or miss. My name is too long for it to work properly, and I used that year as my “transition” period.

The biggest tip I’ve heard from others is don’t second guess it. My current business name is Caring Crystals. I thought of this when I first went into business, but thought it was too cliche. I wish I’d stuck with it in the beginning, it would have saved me a lot of hassle and re-ordering marketing supplies.

Sigh. So I’m now going through the process of taking a step back and just re-assessing things before I make a decision to change anything. Yay.

Hi Cally, in my opinion it’s better to have a business name that wouldn’t be easily confused with another business. After all, you don’t want your customers going to the other Jones Bridal company when they were trying to go to you. You’ll stand out more effectively with a business name that doesn’t make people think of (or shop at) a different company! 🙂

For instance-if my last name were Jones…and, currently I sell bridal accessories, I’d like to use the name Jonesbridalshop if there is a large bridal gown company called Jones bridal gowns (without the “s” on the end) or would my name get lost in the shuffle or would it bring me more traffic?

You know exactly what I’m going through! I totally agree with step 8. Days and days of thinking, pulling my hair out, dreaming names in my sleep, whew! Haven’t gotten to the end, yet, but I will. I’m opening a new shop with just one item, so it’s important to find the right name.
More step 8. 🙂

I need to come up with a mainstream name for my business. One idea I had was to run a contest with a small giveaway asking other people to suggest words that describe your product.
