It seems I need a partner in my venture, I have a friend, and we are going to do a joint show. We both are Polymer artists. I think it’s gonna be a great fit.

Alysen, it’s nice to hear that geography hasn’t gotten in the way of working together with Peg! Creative people can always find a way to make things work. And it’s lovely to hear that you’ve been jewelry buddies for a decade! 🙂

I live in France and it’s not easy being on 2 continents. We both started out making, then I got a job and did less. We’ve always bought our own supplies, made our own things, set our prices and decided on 15% going into a central ‘kitty’ for taxes, etc. I traveled to the U.S. for a couple of shows & she’d come to France for my town’s Christmas market.
For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been back here in the U.S. caregiving Mom, and decided to only make Jewelry. For about that long I’ve also been the only participant in our business. I went on Etsy and was able to change banks to my personal one so as not to keep using our Profit-Eating bank that we’d used all these years. I currently have a credit union and get charged $0.00. That was a good move. I was able to set up a supplemental savings acct. and any sales on Etsy get transferred directly into that account. When Peg starts making again, and sells, I’ll write her a check for her sales. We’re still friends though on different coasts now rather than on different continents!

Hello, Di! Thanks for asking. I recommend that you and your jewelry business partner go through the posts in the Business section here at Jewelry Making Journal.

There’s a ton of inspiration there!

Wishing you every joy and success in your jewelry business.

We are making a lot of products but sales are slow going not sure what else we can do that doesn’t cost too much. Can you please give us some ideas? Thank you for your time.
