If I wear glass cab earrings glued with e6000 for more than a couple weeks they literally will fall part in my hands. I had to do a recall for my business b/c that combo so consistently fails. Other applications (ring backs, bails for necklaces) are fine, but I guess being up against the oils of the ear are the problem. I’m now using a 2-part epoxy but just today has another set of earrings glued that way fall apart. I’m at my wits end, which is why I googled myself here. If anyone knows how to fuse an earring post into a glass piece, do share.

Went through years of gluing and re-gluing things over and over again. Not so much with crazy glue (or locktite) . The jewelry I make does not have stones that fall out (thankfully)..

bsueboutiques.com/
This is also where I buy the majority of my supplies. Brenda Sue Lansdowne that is the owner of the business is so generous, and she even offers a gift package for newbies to her website. She also has the most fantastic creative group (bsue’s boutique creative group) on facebook with over 4000 members and she gives tips, tricks, history, video tutorials on youtube for free and a whole lot more. BTW,never use e6000 on foil back rhinestones, it eats through the foil. Only use G-Hypo Tube Cement.

I rough up the glass surface and the bail then clean with isopropyl alcohol. I have used E6000 which 90% of the time the bail will pop off. I have also used Loctite 319 with better results but still not great. I don’t get why it is so hard to keep bail and glass stuck together…it’s driving me CRAZY!!!

Proper jewelry techniques will always be your best choice plus your work will have higher quality and not look slapped together.

What a great blog here!

To add further confirmation to previous comments, as another comment said I use the smelly E-6000, I happened to be sensitive to smells so I wish I could find a glue that worked as well and did not have such a strong odor, but there you go. It really works the best out of all the others I have tried. Most people are not bothered by it.

For jump rings I will only use Via Murano snapeez jump rings, as another suggested. They are based in USA and you can get a wholesale account with them. They are excellent quality and you can actually here them snap together and you do need jewelry pliers to get them to work, which in my opinion is a good thing because it shows in this case anyway the quality of the jump ring. I have always been wary if I see jump rings where I myself can simply move them with my own fingers. Via Murano also has a video to show you how that works. I have not had any problems using these, superb quality.

I only use Goop glue. I score a few small scratches on the glass where I’m going to put the bail, clean it with alcohol and apply Goop. After drying it will not come off.

Believe me it will not come off! I am going to use it on my handmade jewelry if need be. good luck!

If you ‘close’ them so that you hear the snap, they do not come apart. They come in 6+ finishes AND are made in USA. Great product, great company!!!
