…and then again, from the business point of view, there are some additional questions: what do they see as unique in their work, who are their favourite/designated customers, what kind of work do they prefer to do, do they have discounts for the blog’s readers?
Good luck!
I’d love to see the results.

Are you writing for other jewelry artists to be inspired, encouraged, or given new ideas by these profiles? Or are you helping shoppers find new handmade artists to buy from? Understanding what your readers want to read about, will give you a good basis for your questionnaire.

You can find it right here: dasiglam.blogspot.com/p/share-your-creations-with-world.html
It’s meant as orientation, all participants are free to answer all the questions, some of them or write something entirely different, but it does help getting them started. Sometimes they want to be included in the Creative Interviews but don’t know where to start, so the questionaire helps. Our goal is to show the work of other creatives and you’ll find 11 Creative Interviews on the right hand side of the blog. Just browse through them (both in spanish and english) and see the different results that come out from the same questions. You’re welcome to use our questionaire or parts of it should you be interested. Good luck!

First of all I strongly suggest to do your research and check out the artist’s websites, shops, biography – this helps you to figure out questions that are tailored to your interviewee.
Make sure your questions show that you have done your homework, so a generic list won’t cut the mustard.
I have done interviews in the past for my blog Helen’s Paws for Thought (http://helenspawsforthought.hkpress.co.uk/category/featured-fellow-jewellery-artists-and-crafters/)and always made sure I knew the artist and her/his work before sending out questions. I have stopped this now on my blog as it turned out to be far too much work and only one artist reciprocated. I now look for guest bloggers who can write.
I also contribute and edit the MEET section for UK website UK Handmade (http://www.ukhandmade.co.uk/meet) and while I inherited a list of questions to use and give out to contributers I also ask them to make sure they tailor it to their interview partner.
Here are some things people always like to know:
Questions about business name
Ask about business advice for other jewellery designers
History of the business – how did he/she get started /has she/he formal training
favourite tools/ techniques/ materials
favourite/unusual commissions
plans for the future
what’s her/his bestseller
time it takes to produce xyz
favourite piece of jewellery
what/who inspires the designer
what does the designer do on his/her day off
a typical day in the life of..
most challenging piece he/she has designed

As you can see there’s a lot of scope and questions/ideas you can choose from. Make sure you proofread and edit your interviews – you’ll be surprised about some people’s grammar/spelling (or lack of).
Hope this helps – good luck
Helen

As you select people to profile I would chose people of different talents, strengths and styles. One week a lamp worker, one week a wire artist, one week polymer clay, a metal worker, etc. I would ask them how they got their start, what they most enjoy about their particular genre, favorite colors & techniques, products they recommend to to others interested in that style and then a couple of off the hook questions like ‘If you had a million dollars…’ Good Luck
