Hi, great question! I have an idea for you. I wanted something similar for my jewellery. As my last name begins with an “S”, I made a small double spiral that I could easily add to any clasp.

I haven’t figured out how to “sign” earrings, but I have made logo charms for my necklaces and bracelets using shrinky dinks. My charm is an oval, I first made an assortment of sizes to see what worked. I use colored permanent marker to outline the ovals and my stylized initials on one side. On the other side I use a gold leafing pen to fill in the oval. After cutting them out, (outside the colored oval) I use a 1/4 inch paper punch to cut a hole on one end. After shrinking, I attach one near the clasp of my piece with a jump ring. I use a few different colors (mostly black, but also red, blue and brown) and coordinate them to the primary color of the piece.

That is something I have struggled with as well. If there is room, I will certainly stamp my logo, as well as .925, but some designs simply don’t allow for it. Adding a dangle of any sort would be impractical in these cases. So far, I have made sure that when the earrings go out to my customers, I include a note to let them know it’s sterling, in the case of silver, but that is certainly not my favorite solution.

I agree with the stamping, but remember, this will add to your cost for the stamps. I also agree with the coil drop idea but, anyone who shops for jewelry sees the coil as an ordinary component on a lot of handmade as well as mass produced designs. The idea of a stamp might be good on a metal blank that you could incorporate into the dangle design. Something like a small oval of what ever metals you are using in the design. If you’re using polymer or metal clay you could actually design your own signature as a mold you can use over and over. Hope this helps.

Both of the above are very good ideas. Another is to create a tiny dangle (like the tag mentioned above) that becomes your signature. Here’s what I mean: when I first started making bracelets and necklaces I learned to make spirals and decided to add a tiny dangling one to each bracelet or necklace as something to grab hold of to make fastening easier. One time I was showing a piece to my daughter she commented about how I always added the spiral and asked if that was like my signature. My original intent for convenience actually become a signature element of my designs!

Hi Joie, could this work for you?

I’ve occasionally seen french earwires that have a small flattened area just above the earwire loop, on the beginning of the hook part of the earwire. And on that small flattened area there’s a very teeny stamping of “.925” (or whatever the metal is).

Instead of the “.925” stamping, you may be able to adapt this idea for stamping your signature on the earwires.
