Hello DawnGaye,
I really apologize for such a LATE reply….I just stumbled across your question, and I’m embarrassed it’s taken so long to get back to you…

Basically, I use 24 gauge metal; unless I’m working with bronze. You see, bronze is a much harder metal than silver, copper, or brass. Which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It’ll require more annealing to make it malleable and workable. But with this quality, you can use a thinner piece of metal! I have worked with bronze in 26 or 28 gauge making the piece slightly lighter and not so “bulky”.

You could even try a thinner gauge in other metals, too. Advantages with a thinner metal makes the metal easier to work with, especially for earring or a pendant. You’ll just need a tumbler to “work harden” it after you’ve achieved the fold form you’re satisfied with.

I’m sure by now you’ve experimented with different gauges, so these are my observations and experience.

I’d love to see you’re work if you’ve photographed it!♥️

Everyone had great reviews but only one glitch – they said he doesn’t recommend what gauge to begin with – what thickness would you recommend for newbies? Your work is stunning!
Thank you,
Dawn

It is a moral booster for sure when you offer validation of a process I enjoy so much! I hope you will all try it, and I recommend Charles Lewton-Brain’s fold forming bible, called Fold Forming; it’s not as intimidating as it might look! Have a wonderful day and know your comments are appreciated!
