How Do I Handle Glass and Porcelain?

I do a lot of repurposed jewelry and would  like to experiment with upcycling old glass & porcelain. Would appreciate any advice on the following:

1. Can I cut porcelain (china, etc) with a glass cutter, or do I need different tools?

2. I would like to try adding stones and/or precious metal accents using PMC or paste. Can I fire that on glass & porcelain with a butane torch, or is it likely to shatter?
