Often you can pick up postcards people have at their booths printed by show promotors, with photos of the kind of work at the show, so you can get a sense of whether it’s right for you. Also, sign up for the website Craft Fair Insiders.

You get 4 books a year (quarterly) for $50 and it covers the south, east and mid-west areas. The shows are catagorized by date/location and show deadline. They give info about attendance/ cost/ website. you can check out their website at wheretheshowesare.com

Network! Network! Yes… go to shows and find the friendly artisans and start talking! Yes! The artisans at Justin Herman Plaza are awesome (I always head there to meet new people when I’m in the City). For the bigger Bay Area shows Pacific Fine Arts is good and festivalproductions2.com has a list. Note: Festival Productions takes in anybody, so there is a lot of “bs” stuff (buy and sell)…BUT….it may be a good place to see where the shows are going to be…and go check out the actual artisans there. I’m always “spying” on shows….just to see what may be a good fit for the next time around! Good luck!

I sell out here. I have the pink umbrella. I can give you some ideas. You can take the ferry from Larkspur.

Something like “craft shows in Mill Valley” or “art festival in Southern California” and work from there. Sometimes you get lucky and can zero in on the website for the show and you can see if the show meets your requirements. I’ve only been doing shows for 3 years, but I found that the best resources are talking to other crafters and also trying to find a subscription to an annual book of local craft shows. I have found crafters to be a very unselfish group and got my best leads for shows from them. Good luck.

I would call the local art league. Explain what you do and ask about shows that would be a good fit.

Also call the PR office at your local hospital and other venues where shows may happen. We live near an upscale casino hotel, a historic theatre and a fair ground that all have annual art/craft fairs. Some are more exclusive than others.

Your city’s board of tourism and even City Hall might be able to make you aware of public events where you might want to show.
