Not all emergencies occur at home or around family members, so at times info may be very limited. I myself, have gone deaf and wear a medical alert bracelet for that. I can only imagine if I experienced an emergency myself and woke up to people shouting at me, unaware that I cannot hear.

I would like to give you a simple example that most people can relate to. Almost everyone will have a family member that is on blood thinners. These people go about their lives like any other. Then one day they get in a car accident or fall off of a ladder. What would be a minor injury to most, could be a life threatening situation for them.

People are treated differently according to their needs. If you have a medical issue, drug allergies, or any medical disability-I strongly urge you to wear an alert bracelet-it could save your life.

I can’t describe to you how this makes a jewelry artist feel but let’s say it is what makes EVERYTHING about my job so very MEANINGFUL. I am truly at a loss for words as to how I can best describe what you’ve just done for me but it does not compare to any sale, large or small or ANY amount of money. It is beyond value. If you think that I am a blessing in your life, you’ve no idea what a blessing YOU are in MY life.

This comment is so priceless that I’m going to have to print it out and put it in my “the greatest moments of joy about being a jewelry designer” box. I actually DO print out extraordinary feedback like this and put it in an old jewelry box that belonged to my Grandmother. I don’t know how to thank you. You are the silver lining in any cloud that could ever possibly come my way. You are such a positive addition to my life very much the same way in which Rena has been. The inspiration I am drawing from this can not be measured but if it could, you’d see a mountain high of heartwarming smiles on my face. Thank you, dear Joy. I am so fortunate that you came into my life and you are the perfect example of how meaningful a friendship can come from something as seemingly “technical” as a social media platform.

About a month ago I started making “designer” strands for my mom. She has type II diabetes and it is vital that she wear a medic alert bracelet at all times.

A couple years ago she ordered direct from Medic Alert, a very expensive (over $200) sterling silver matte finish pendant on a sterling silver heavy link chain bracelet. I noticed a few months ago that she never had it on. She said one of the jump rings holding the pendant to the bracelet broke so she didnt want to wear it and also she thought it was to “see my medic alert bracelet” for her to wear every day.

So I decided to drag her down to the Michael’s store and had her choose any styles and colors of beads she wanted and went to work. She is an emergency room triage nurse and wears scrubs in a variety of colors.

I made detachable bracelets, just like the ones above, to match all of her uniform colors using round, flat, double sided glass beads so that she could still write and type comfortably. For her everyday wear, I used several different patterns and colors of 6mm Swarovski Crystal bicones accented with spacer beads.

With all that being said and done, I am very pleased to see that she now wears her Medic Alert bracelet every single day while able to still be quite stylish and blingy.

So for anyone out there who has a friend or family member that is stubborn and/or fashion conscious and refuses to wear the life saving medical alert information: please offer to make one or two of these for free and invite them to be involved in the design process by choosing beads and clasps that will inspire them to wear it every day.

The cost of these can range from as little as a couple of dollars to as much as you or they are willing to pay for the supplies, but the life it may save is absolutely PRICELESS!
