If you make another pair just like this one (with the different lengths at the top), you can then match the lengths into two pairs of symmetrical earrings. One pair for yourself and one pair for someone else!

I like the fact you did it two different ways…gave me some additional ideas. Thank you for sharing. The photo props are great as well.

Very interesting. Could we know which hammer gives this effect? Would hammering on a wood surface work too? I’m inspired to try too.

Did you use sterling or a basic metal? Great work, can’t wait to see more.

I love the way all your photos look, although the top two photos do show these particular earrings off the best.

What a great way to finish off with the wire wrapping, too. Great, great job — and yes, hammering with the right tools makes a whole universe of difference. I’m finding that I need several different bench blocks and hammers now for different types of hammered looks: after a while you’ll notice great gouges forming in the bench block. I keep one surface for “fine” hammering on silver where I don’t want any marks to transfer. I’m also about to buy another hammer so I can keep the equally gouged one for wire that I want the gouged look. The heavier gauges of brass and hard temper copper are so hard they will kill both surfaces.

One of these days, invest in a tiny anvil — you’ll be amazed at how useful all the different rounded edges will become.

Re: Asymmetry – Haha. I think I’ll just measure and trim better in the future for this particular design!

Tools that are designed for the job can really make a difference in jewelry making. About the earrings with different lengths at the top – that could be an “asymmetrical feature”. 🙂 And I’ll be interested to see your pictures as you tweak your backgrounds!
