Folding Jewelry Display Shelf

by Geri.

I made this great folding jewelry display shelf, and it only cost me $12!

The taller shelf (left) folds up for easy transport.
The shorter shelf (right) is repurposed from
an existing corner-shelf unit.

This display gets your jewelry up off the table, and lets you display more items in a smaller space.

The shelf unit measures 12″ x 48″.

To make it, I took a piece of plywood I had lying around the house, to use for the sides.

I found these corner shelves at an overstock store called Ollies, for $1.79 apiece – and even better, I also had a 15% off coupon. (You never know what you might find there.)

plus the elegantly shabby-chic crackle finish.

I had all the paint around the house already. I primed the wood and then painted a crackle finish on it.

Then I used a hinge to connect the shelving, and bought plastic shelf supports, so that the shelves just sit right in there.

I also put stick-on velcro in the corners, to help hold the shelves in place there.

The whole folding jewelry display shelf unit breaks down and folds in half on the hinge, so it’s easy to transport. (It doesn’t fold totally flat because of the shelf supports.)

It’s very easy to set up and take down at shows.

The smaller shelving unit was already made. I just added the new corner shelves right on top of the existing ones

I also used some wooden boxes I had lying around. I screwed one of them directly to the bottom of the shelf, and I just use the handle in the box to carry it to the car.

I used the same crackle finish on this second jewelry display shelf unit. It looks like a million bucks, and barely cost me any money to make.

My son said I should sell displays!

I also put hooks on the inside walls of these shelves so that I can hang up other items in my displays!
