It makes me feel like I am in good company. I had tried the modified apron thing with minimal success; I am not a taylor by any means. Had not thought of the bin idea. I am SO SICK of creaking down to the floor and creaking back up again. I used to be so “sure handed” I had wondered what was “wrong” with me until I saw your post. Thank you!

Although, I may need tweezers to pick them out of the terry cloth loops…

My beads don’t bounce to the floor as much anymore!

Not only a good idea, but reading everyone’s answers made me feel like this is a problem for all of us, no matter our age.
We had carpets replaced in early March, and all I could think is I could sell the old one to a bead collector. They’d be thrilled with what lies within!

Just telling my husband I think I spend as much time of the floor looking for what I dropped, as I do on a piece. I was thinking a large mat under my workspace, but I like your “bin” idea even more Arthritis is my evil companion as well. Getting my fingers stuck in scissors is another issue…got any ideas for that annoying little hassle. Thanks, I am crowding 70 and find this helpful…going bin shopping~

I’m an old dog to, and I found the same thing happening. My solution was I made an “apron“ of sorts that I connected to the underside of my bench, full length, and that I attached either around my shoulders like a regular full apron, or to the back of my chair, so that everything rolled into it and never made it to the floor.

Whatever it takes!

I usually just make bead soup designs when I decide to collect what is on the rug. I have found my granddaughter has keen eyesight and she has been collecting them for me! 🙂

A friend gave me a tray with raised edges. I purchased a bead mat that has a sticky surface and just fits in the tray. This has helped immensely. I have seen similar trays in one of the crafts stores. I also have a tray table with a raised edge. However, I especially like working on the smaller tray, which fits well on my lap and is quite portable..

LOL, Rebecca! I love your foot-soaking while beading idea – that sounds like absolute bliss. 🙂

Might not work for the same purpose as emptying the water might (probably) would make the beads go down a drain, but I have a screen over my drain to catch them. I am off for a nice soak and to finish a project. It will be a nice change from fixing computers all day.
