I also wear every piece before I sell it to see how it wears and also my friends know that I like them to critique it. Sometimes I get a real eye opener from a friend about a technique I had not thought about. Your piece is beautiful and I love the idea of the filigree.

By the way, I showed my husband where you fromlive and he chuckled and then he says he knows that name. He grew up in East Aurora himself. 🙂

I’ve stayed away from making clusters because of how untidy the back can look. I’ve always loved those filigree pcs. What a great used for them!

I have used leather as a back piece and actually sewn the beads to it. Then I backed it with another piece of leather to cover up all the stitch marks. This has worked very well for me and makes a very interesting piece.

Just thought I’d let you know that we’re “neighbors”…I live in Depew, NY. Your necklace is beautiful, and using the filigree backdrop is very clever!

I wear all my pieces at least once and just like her, sometimes I’m very happy when a piece doesn’t sell!

I know just what your talking about in regards to the “engineering”! I too have an idea in my head, draw it out on paper, then try to put it together. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. And most of the time it takes me days and days to finish the piece.
You have found a wonderful solution to your beautiful flowers and petals. What you are showing here is just lovely and your next one will be more beautiful.

When I first saw your necklace I couldn’t figure out how on earth you did this. I would never have thought of using a filigree frame – and now it makes me think of using it in other applications such as grouping together large crystals of different types or taking custom made jewelry to a whole new level with a belt buckle, perhaps? Do you mind if I use your idea?

Very inspiring, Nancy. Thank you for sharing.

Elizabeth

May I borrow your idea ? 😉

But I usually spiral the ends of the wire and glue a small circle of leather or suede in a neutral tone over it so it is soft against the skin.

I nevery thought of using a filigree “frame”, I simply gave up because there are so many other styles I love to make, it was a minor glitch. But now with this tip – it opens that whole world up to me again! Thank you so much!

I have a few pieces that I debate whether to keep or sell. Then when I decide to keep, it sells before I have a chance to remove the listing. 🙂

I like using filigree to attach elements to as well. It is easy, and adds a pretty addition to the piece as well.

I wear everything at least once to check for design and construction flaws but it is really more than that….. I think it’s an attachment thing. Sometimes I am actually glad no one buys it so I appreciate others who have that same feeling.
