Yes, Patty always start with an even number, and sure you measure! Once you string the even number of seed beads try to put it around your cabochon or piece. It should fit comfortably. After I finish my first round I measure again. It’s like what good carpenters do… measure twice cut once! I’ve had to start over again lots of times. Don’t give up. It’s a good idea to write down what you’re doing as you go. You may think you’ll remember but it doesn’t always work out.

I’m just learning about bezels. Is it correct that when you start a bezel, your first (2) round should be in an even number and the circumference of the object being bezel-ed?

I’m not surprised they sold so quickly. They’re an interesting blend of materials and techniques, and the images are charming with those vintage watch parts. Thank you for sharing these pendants with us!

How do I make my jewelry ideas a reality? Usually I sketch them – and then redraw or edit them until I come up with a final version I like.

But when it comes to making the actual piece of jewelry, I don’t always stick completely to the sketch. Sometimes another idea will pop up (or my materials want to be used in a different way than what I sketched) and I wind up with a different design in the finished jewelry. 🙂

Where do you get ideas and how do you make them a reality? Do you sketch first?
