Word of advice though, (from someone who did it wrong) get an extra kiln shelf, and do all your metal firing on it. If you ever want to sell the kiln, or do glass in it yourself, (because let’s face it, us creative types always want to try new things with our toys) you can’t fire glass on the same shelf that you use for silver. Silver fumes discolor glass, and there is no way to get them out of the shelf because it is porous. No amount of kiln wash or firing paper will stop it, either. Some glass doesn’t react to silver, and if you decide to add dichroic glass to your pieces, make sure that the glass is non reactive. Ask the woman who is selling the kiln to tell you what kinds to use! Firing metal clays and glass are both really fun. Good luck on your endeavors!

I’ll be interested to see any insights from more knowledgeable folks! 🙂
