I have been struggling for awhile now on getting my jewelry line established. It’s so overwhelming trying to find the right way to promote yourself. I am on Etsy, right now, and it’s been hard to come up with a good title and description plus pictures. Then you throw in Facebook, Twitter, Pinterst. I think I have my website looking good, but right now you can’t buy from it, it takes you back to Etsy. I would greatly appreciate any and all comments and suggestions on how to make my website and etsy look better.

I make sure to measure everything and take pictures of details a customer could want to see (pendant, clasp, etc.). The more information you give a customer, the more comfortable they’ll be buying a piece without touching it or trying it on.

After reading lots of advice about taking good pictures – photo cubes, expensive equipment, hiring a professional, etc. – the best pics I’ve ever taken are with my iPhone. Just natural light in a North-facing window in the afternoon and a little editing with Gimp to bump the white balance and I’m good to go. Maybe a professional with an expensive camera (and a photo cube) could take even better pictures, but for now I’m happy with the quality I’m getting. The price is definitely right!

But decent descriptions and good photographs do help. Surprisingly I do better on Folksy.
