Sometimes I think the hardest part it having the courage to submit a design. Several years ago I submitted a design to BeadStyle Magazine. It was my first-ever chainmaille work, a variation on a project I saw in that publication a year or so previously. I thought they would be interested in seeing the variation. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I opened my email & read that they decided to publish it in their March 2012 issue & it has subsequently appeared in 2 books by the same publisher!

Since then I made a resolution to submit at least one project each year, & have stuck to the resolution. The other projects have not been accepted, but I keep trying. I also enter projects in contests sponsored by bead vendors & have been a finalist a few times.

The moral of the story is to be brave enough to send in your work — you never know what will happen!
