Hi Alice, are photos 16 and 17 (counting down from the top of the tutorial) the ones that are confusing you?
Photo 16 shows where to hold the wire with the flat nose pliers. From there, use your pliers to bend the wire at a 90-degree angle, so the straight wire end now points straight upward, away from the circle.
Photo 17 shows what that looks like – after you make the 90-degree bend in the wire.

It has been a while, so I reviewed your video on the wraps and this tutorial and am left a bit confused as to the top of top of the hoop. You never show or describe how you got the straight bit at the top and the next picture makes no logical sense of how you got there.
