I have some (somewhere in my stash) that I have bought at Native American Powwows. If it were a claw it would not have survived the tumbling in surf. Claws are keratin…not bone, and the various layers can slough off. If it is hard like porcelain…it’s a tooth.

Old teeth can have hollow areas (and also claws) .. the organic veins and tissue have been removed.

Thank you so much for your kind words! That’s neat that you have a collection of teeth/claws. You’re right, there is a special feel to jewellery made from bits found personally in nature. 🙂

I have several different types of animal teeth and/or claws. I love the ‘Earthy’ feel that this type of jewelry evokes. This is one of my very favorites. thanks so much for letting me see it 🙂

Rejane, the beak had a hollow core, so I was able to put some glue down into there and sink a pin into it, with a loop on the top. The heart isn’t glued on, everything freely moves.

This primitive design is a great piece, and a perfect home for Chomper. Thanks for sharing this follow-up to your first post about this cool find! 🙂

As always, your imagination created a very special piece, along with a thought provoking lesson.
Love it Tamara!
