Andrea, I find that I get the best wire ends by using a wire cutter that makes a flat cut, instead of one that makes a beveled cut. (I use a Xuron memory-wire cutter for most of my wire cutting.)

Then, after making a nice flat cut, it’s quick and easy for a cup bur to make a really smooth, rounded edge on the flat cut. 🙂

Thank you so much for a great tutorial! Using different color wire really expands the looks u can create too. I love the earring idea and will try both!
My problem is that with the cup burr I still don’t get a nice, smooth end. With filled or plated wire, you also see the center. Seems the copper is best for a uniform look. How did u get your end so smooth with no marks?
Thanks for any tips and tricks about this little detail!
