The Beauty of Bespoke Jewelry by Anna Davies - featured on Jewelry Making Journal

Hello my name is Anna Davies I am a designer and jewellery maker from South Wales.

I want to share with you a bespoke bracelet I made and tell you why I believe in bespoke creations.

A lady from New York approached me this year with a beautiful love story, and seeking a piece of jewellery that would stand the test of time based on a planetary alignment and their pet names for each other ‘Moon & Sun’.

In this process I learned a valuable lesson in getting to know what a client really wants. It strengthened my customer service skills and I find nothing more enjoyable than having the opportunity to create something truly individual with special meaning.

Gorgeous piece! Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing.

All the sun and moon symbols you found to include in your piece are wonderful.
I have never really understood the meaning of the term “bespoke”. Could you enlighten me?

  • Hi Lyone! I believe “bespoke” means made to order, or custom. 🙂

  • Carol says:

I have been totally flummoxed by the term “bespoke”. I first saw it in large letters on the name of a business in downtown San Francisco so I thought it was a company. Then when I saw “bespoke” jewelry mentioned on this website, I was totally confused! I looked it up in the dictionary, and evidently it comes from an old English word. But what is the reason for saying “bespoke” instead of “custom”? Is there another connotation to the word that I am not aware of? P S. I love the bracelet!

  • Hi Carol! “Bespoke” means a custom order; made to order. I hope this helps! 🙂
