Beaded Sweater & Shawl Pins

Found another way this week to use up some gemstones and beads in a pretty unique way.

I saw some oversized safety pins at a hobby store that already had 3 hoops attached for dangles. So I bought a few and put my creative cap on and came up with a Fall color theme and a Christmas theme for sweater/shawl pins.

Not heavy at all but certainly need to be on a sturdy coat/shawl/sweater. Great way to add some color to an otherwise plain outfit I think!

Used 20 guage wire and even some color coated wire for the Christmas pin. Mom already saw the Christmas one and claimed dibs on it… Can’t wait to show them to the folks at work!

  • Great idea, Christine! Pins and brooches are perfect for “theme” designs. I love your seashell and Christmas pins – and I think the Christmas one would be popular to brighten up a warm coat with a cheery touch of holiday style. Thanks for sharing these with us!

I have looked for a finding like this to make shawl pins. Can you share which hobby store carries this item?

  • Christine Yuss says:

    Hi Susan,
I found them at Hobby Lobby. I know it’s a national chain so hopefully you have one near you.
