Add a Favicon to Your Jewelry Website

by Rita Juhlin.

This stylish lady is part of the branding for Millie’s Got Rocks 4 Sale website.

Add a Favicon (favorite icon) to your website, so that your company or product logo appears in the URL box.

The stylish lady shown above appears as the little favicon image next to Millie’s GotRocks4Sale.com URL in the web browser’s address bar:

This icon will also show up in a bookmark list, and gives the web site an added level of professionalism.

How do you add a favicon to your website?

You can do a search for “add a favicon”. I used HTML Kit Favicon.

Then simply:

  • pick a photo or logo for your site;
  • upload the graphic through the favicon website’s browse option;
  • download the kit;
  • copy and paste the code you are given to your index page;
  • place the icon in your root directory.

This is another way to Brand and Promote your website. See how the stylish lady’s striking image makes a strong impression on Millie’s home page:

Easy, free branding idea
by: Rena

Thanks so much for sharing this great tip for branding and promoting a jewelry website, Rita!

This is an excellent way to imprint a jewelry business on people’s consciousness. The more times people see a branding image, the more familiar they become with the business.

favicon – great idea
by: Patricia C Vener

I think I made a half-hearted effort at adding a favicon a long time ago. Now that I’ve redesigned and updated my website I might take another look at this. My graphics utility has an icon producing function if I recall… 🙂

Thanks for the reminder!

I’d Always Wondered …
by: Sam Ryder

Thanks very much for the easy to follow article, Rita. I’d always wondered how websites accomplished this – and now not only do I know, I could even do it myself! As a website user/consumer I find it appealing.
