What am I missing?

I’ve yet to purchase supplies or try this out but have a question for you before I do so. I make jewelry from old silverplate cutlery and am wondering what will be best to use on this metal. Since it is a thin plate of silver over stainless steel will it work best with ferric nitrate or ferric chloride or might it not work at all with either?

I’m really hoping to try this but am having trouble finding Ferric Nitrate Crystals. I can find Ferric nitrate in liquid form – will that still work? I’m in Australia so not sure if it’s just not widely available here but thought I’d ask your expert opinion!
