Alysen, thank you for sharing your example of how a long-distance jewelry partnership can work – especially when there are other life issues to deal with. Wishing you and Peggy all the best!

I live in France and she lives in California. It’s not easy being in different time zones (I’m +9 hours) and we had to hash alot out before starting. The main deterrents are brainstorming, day-to-day motivation and general being around each other. We try to have regular Skype calls but Life gets in the way alot. I started working a ‘day job’ that I loved 4 years ago and we both kind of sputtered to a stop with the business. Amazingly, things still sold in our shops!
About a year ago I changed directions and started teaching myself Wire Weaving, then metalsmithing and learning online and from this blog too.
So, as life happens, I quit my job, left my 2 adult kids, cat and hubs in France and came back to the U.S. in April 2017 for an unknown period of time to help one of my Sisters caregive my 94-year-old mother. My wire, tools, gems and etc. came with me and we’re seriously getting back into the groove again..
It’s not easy finding time now, but can usually do 2-4 hour stints at my hastily made, temporary studio in the corner of my bedroom.
All this just to say that it’s not easy to co-work long distance but can be done. Depends on your work ethics, friendship and motivation.

I am now living in Newfoundland now but we still work together and get together whenever possible. I would love to hear how things go for you.

One of them is just 6 hours away, the other 36 hours away, now you gave me some ideas, thank you!!

It is great that we can at least keep connected this way. The internet is a great way to stay in touch. Glad you like your JaJeJems pieces.
