A New Jewelry Studio: 15 Feet From My Back Door

I am so excited about my new studio. There are still a few things left to do but it is basically up and running. My old work place was in the attic in a 5 ft by 8 ft. space and here I have the luxury of 12 ft. by 22 ft.

I have a little store on a busy highway as well as Etsy and a website. I make all the stock for the store all winter and then run the store in the summer. Having this space will make my winters so much more relaxed. The studio is a separate little building 15 feet from the back door as there was no room in the house that could be converted.

Hope you like it and can find some useful ideas. The steel shelving came from a store that was going out of business and the upper drawers for finished jewelry came from Nile Corp.

What a beautiful studio!!!!! I’m so jealous!!! That is such a great idea to just open the store in the summer and work there all winter. Best of luck to you!

  • Dawn Hook says:

Hi Your studio looks amazing. I too am very jealous. hope you have hours of creative fun
    all best wishes

  • Pamela says:

I am so thrilled for you! Every artist needs a special place to create. We almost bought a house which has the perfect little writer’s nook in the back yard but the house was too small.

  • Diane says:

WONDERFUL!!! WOW! You have a lot of space in there. I too, have a studio in my yard. It is heated and has a window air conditioning unit. It was originally built as my wildlife rehab building, but since becoming disabled, I can no longer do rehab. It ended up as storage for a few years and is now my studio. It is a 10X12 building. I am in the process of rearranging and reorganizing everything. Will post pictures when I have everything set up.

  • Beautiful! What a wonderful place to work. Don’t you just love those wooden holders you have on the top shelf? I have 2 of them and could use at least 2 more, they keep my beads in order, and are easy to find in them.

  • Lindsay Lee says:

Thank you for your compliments on my new space. Cheryl, I too love those wooden tray holders, I know they would be great for bead storage too. I actually use trays at the craft shows and in my store for jewelry so I have the trays all organized with finished jewelry.

  • Kate says:

Me too, I’m feeling so envious. I saw you web site and you are so talented.

  • Pam Kriner says:

I’m very impressed how organized your workshop is. It is amazing how quickly on can out grow ons’s space! I am constantly looking for better ways to stay organized.

  • Pam Kriner says:

I really like the idea of using trays to display finished jewelry. So much simpler to pack & unpack for shows! I’ve been looking for shelves like these to store trays. I also use the trays to store cabochons. These wooden tray holders are from Nile?

  • Susan Wyatt says:

Lindsay – Would you be able to help me find the wooden cabinets on Nile? I can’t locate them. However, I did find this new product which is a wooden cabinet on wheels that holds the trays which I wanted to share with you and the other designers.

  • Susan says:

Your studio is fabulous. Unfortunately its too cold here to work in my garden, in a studio without heating. Enjoy yours.

Thank you for the link of the lovely shelving unit Susan. I have these boxes.

  • Robin Hudson says:

So nice! What freedom! Let me share your joy vicariously for a moment… Ahhhhhhh! 🙂

  • Melanie Solis says:

What an awesome space! I’d love to organize my stuff that way. Thanks for the ideas:)
